Training in advanced solution focused brief therapy is being hosted and facilitated by the Derry Well Women Centre. Anyone interested in participating in this programme should contact the centre directly or complete the application form, which can be downloaded from the link provided below.

Background Information

Critical incident debriefing is not helpful or indeed appropriate in the immediate aftermath of a critical incident, as stated by BACP and the British Psychological Society. Solution Focused Support is thought to be the most helpful post critical incident intervention.

Entry Criteria

• Have access to victims/survivors through paid/voluntary work.
• Evidence of knowledge/and application of Solution Focused Talk/Counselling.
• Diploma in Counselling and/or Certificate in Solution Focused Brief Counselling.
• Evidence of continuing personal and professional development.
• Evidence of personal therapy and significant courses in personal development and/or professional development. Evidence of progression since completion of Certificate in Solution Focused Counselling.
• Preferable – 2 years experience of supporting people affected by trauma.
